🚂 Year 6 Step Back in Time! 🚂
Yesterday, Year 6 travelled back to 1940 as they were evacuated to Hartlebury Castle as part of our World War II topic.
Dressed as evacuees, the children were welcomed by Vera the Land Girl, who taught them all about what life would have been like for children leaving their families and being sent to the countryside during the war. They completed identity cards, played with traditional toys and even practised an air raid drill by sheltering under their desks!
In the afternoon, the children rolled up their sleeves and helped a scullery maid with some wartime Make Do and Mend activities. They designed menus using rationed foods and had a go at rag rugging, discovering how families made the most of the limited resources available to them.
The children were a credit to the school throughout the day and it was wonderful to see their learning brought to life in such an engaging and memorable way.
A huge thank you to the team at Hartlebury Museum for organising such fantastic workshops and bringing history to life for our children. We all had a wonderful day and learned so much from the experience.
🌱♻️ This week, Key Stage 2 welcomed Worcester Wildlife Trust, who taught us all about the importance of healthy soil and how we can help to look after our environment.
The visit linked perfectly with our Eco Council's exciting plans to reinstate our school compost bins. The children learned how composting helps to reduce waste, enrich the soil and support local wildlife.
We are looking forward to putting our learning into action and making a positive difference to our school environment! 🌍💚
🐯☕ This afternoon, Year 1 enjoyed a very special visitor at their tea party! As part of their introduction to The Tiger Who Came to Tea, the children were delighted to meet a tiger who joined them for the afternoon.
The tiger certainly lived up to his reputation, eating all the snacks and drinking all the drinks! Luckily, he had brought some replacement biscuits and squash for the children to enjoy. 🧃🍪
The children had lots of fun playing with the picnic sets, listening to their new class story and then writing sentences about their exciting experience.
A wonderful afternoon of learning, imagination and lots of smiles! 🐯📚✨
🎨🚐 Celebrating GRT History Month 🚐🎨
Year 5 have been busy creating and decorating their own beautiful traditional vardos inspired by the vibrant colours, patterns and craftsmanship of these historic travelling homes.
We are excited to be working with Worcestershire County Museum at Hartlebury Castle, home to the largest collection of traditional vardos in the country. Later this month, some of our classes will visit the museum to see the vardos on display, listen to a traditional storyteller and learn more about the rich history and culture of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities.
Well done, Year 5 — we are so proud of your creativity! ✨
What a couple of days Year 6 have had! 🎉🍦🍕
After finishing their SATs yesterday, the children celebrated with a surprise visit from the ice cream van and enjoyed spending time together in their leavers’ hoodies. We are so proud of the resilience, determination and positivity they have shown throughout the week.
Today, the celebrations continued with games and fun this morning, followed by pizza making this afternoon before changing into pyjamas to enjoy a film together! Of course, there were also plenty of cuddles with Bear along the way 🐾
They have absolutely earned every second of it — well done, Year 6! 🌟
Our Willow and Acorn classes enjoyed a fantastic trip to Churchfields Farm this week! 🌿🐄
The children loved learning about the journey from farm to fork and exploring life on the farm. A real highlight was seeing a newborn calf out in the pasture — such a special moment and a brilliant link to our learning about animal life cycles. ✨
We also explored the fields, met the Highland cattle and learned more about the important jobs farmers do every day.
To finish the day, the children enjoyed some delicious Churchfields ice cream by the vintage farm truck! 🍦😊
A wonderful day full of learning, fresh air and smiles!
The magic of the "Lost Words" came to life today!✨🌳
We were thrilled to welcome the @worcestershirewildlifetrust for a special assembly all about the wonders of the natural world. Together, we "brought back" the word acorn and discovered the incredible journey from a tiny seed to a mighty oak tree. 🐿️🐜
From supporting tiny insects to housing majestic animals, we learned just how important these trees are to our planet’s ecosystem. It turns out, nature is the best kind of magic! 🪄🍃

📚 Reading in unusual places 📚
We’ve absolutely loved seeing all of your entries for our “reading in unusual places” challenge!
From reading on a shed roof, to sharing a story with a pig at the farm, to taking a book along to Legoland—our children have certainly been getting creative!
One of our pupils even managed to fit in some reading during a hospital visit after their trip, which just goes to show how important and comforting a good book can be wherever you are 💛
A huge well done to everyone who took part—we are so proud of the effort, enthusiasm and love of reading you continue to show!
🐾 Bear was hard at work on reception last week! 🐾
Our newest (and fluffiest) member of the team was busy greeting visitors, supervising arrivals and even helping to answer a few emails… although we can’t promise they all made complete sense!
He proved to be a natural—calm, friendly and always ready with a wagging tail to brighten someone’s day. We think he might just be our most popular member of staff!
We’re so proud of how well he has settled into his role and can’t wait to see him continue his journey as our Head of Well-being 💛
🚣♂️ Year 6 Bell Boating Adventure! 🚣♀️
On Friday, our Year 6 children headed out for an exciting bell boating session — and what a fantastic time they had! 🌊
Working together in teams, the children showed brilliant communication, determination and resilience as they paddled their way along the water. There were plenty of laughs along the way, and it was lovely to see everyone encouraging each other and building confidence.
A huge well done to all of Year 6 for their positive attitudes and teamwork — you made us very proud! 👏
