Hermione – Cyclo-Cross Champion
Hermione was awarded a prize for winning the Under 6 girls category for the West Midlands Cyclo-Cross League 2022/23. Cyclo-cross is a cycling discipline that is ridden in the winter over a grassy, muddy and undulating circuit.
At the adult levels there are additional obstacles you encounter such as steps, steep hills and planks which often require you to jump off your bike and run with it on your shoulder. Hermione competed in 12 races and won 5 of these.
The last few races were in very muddy conditions which really tested Hermione but she was determined to win a medal so kept on racing, even if it meant she had to push her bike through the really muddy bits.
