Monday 1st – Friday 5th July 2024 is Walk to School Week!

Each day, children will be asked if they have walked to school and will be given a house point if they have done so.

We are happy for children to either walk, cycle or scoot to school!

We really appreciate your support with this.

Dear Teachers and Support Staff,

Wednesday 19th June is National Thank A Teacher Day, and on behalf of Worcestershire Children First and Worcestershire County Council, I want to take a moment to personally thank each and every one of you.

The enthusiasm, care, support and commitment that you demonstrate on a daily basis is greatly appreciated. I frequently visit schools and settings in Worcestershire and speak with education leaders across the sector and hear about the positive impact that you make on the lives of our children and young people to provide them with the best start in life and preparation for each stage to adulthood.

We have seen some promising outcomes for our children and schools and this is thanks to our dedicated teachers and support staff working in schools. We know we need to make a particular effort to focus on children who experience disadvantage and to support their voices to be heard and to ensure they have a great experience in education.

I would encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect and thank teachers or education staff they know have played an important role in helping to shape the future of children and young people.

Thank you all for your hard work, dedication, and the positive impact you make on the lives of our children and young people every day.

Thank you.

Sarah Wilkins
Director for Education, Early Years, Inclusion and Place Planning

Hartlebury Church of England (VC) Primary School were invited to perform for the Diocese at the Royal Three Counties Show this year on Friday 14th June 2024.

Hazel Class were asked to represent the school in the Diocese performance tent and were also able to enjoy the show exhibits around their performance time.

This was a wonderful opportunity for the class, and they all had a wonderful time at the show!

Hazel Class performed really well at the show and sang beautifully.

Well done to everyone for representing our school so well.

Mrs Unitt is hoping to make this visit to the Royal Three Counties Show an annual event!

This week we have been taking part in Healthy Eating Week.

The British Nutrition Foundation organise and run this important event to raise awareness about the importance of healthy eating all over the UK.

Yesterday was Move More Wednesday! Children and young people (aged 5 -18 years) engaged in moderate-to-vigorous intensity physical activity for an average of at least 60 minutes per day across the week. This can include all forms of activity such as physical education, active travel, after-school activities, play and sports.

The daily activity recommendation doesn’t have to be achieved in one go. It can be spread across the day in manageable chunks, for example, 10 minutes at a time. The easiest way to move more is to make activity part of everyday life. Encourage children to look for everyday opportunities to move a bit more.

We will be encouraging all children to move a little more today in school!

Friday 7th June 2024 was NSPCC National Childhood Day.

To celebrate, they were promoting a Childhood Mile. This involved our children doing 7 laps around the school field.

To achieve their 7 laps, they could walk, run, jog, dance…the list was endless.

What a lovely way to keep active and get the children involved for National Childhood Day.

Well done everyone!

This year, we are supporting Comic Relief on Friday 15th March 2024.

The theme this year being ‘Do Something Funny For Money.’

As this is hot on the heels of ‘World Book Day’, we are inviting children to bring a small coin donation in return for telling the class a joke or wearing their school uniform in a funny way e.g. jumper or cardigan 2 back to front, odd socks, red noses or headbands, funny hats etc.

We are very much looking forward to seeing and hearing the children’s ideas!

Wow! What a FANTASTIC day we all had for World Book Day on Thursday 7th March 2024.

Everyone looked fabulous in their costumes…children and adults alike

Children were invited to bring their favourite book into school on this day to share with their friends – we loved seeing their favourite stories!

It was so lovely to see the joy and happiness on the children’s faces and how excited they all were to show off their costumes of their favourite book characters.

The theme for this years Anti-Bullying week was ‘Make a Noise about Bullying’. We have been learning about what bullying means and what we can do if we experience it or see it happening.

The children throughout school have been wearing odd socks to show that we are all unique and remind us to value you our differences.

Our youngest children designed their own odd socks and ‘made a noise’ about bulling not being welcome at our school.

Events

We are focusing on Kindness for Anti-Bullying week from Monday 16th to Friday 20th November 2020.

‘In a world where you can be anything, be kind’.

What a success Commonwealth Games Day has been!

All of the children at school have experienced a range of activities all linked to the games. We have taken part in javelin, sprinting, hockey, tennis, basketball and long jump.

We hope that taking part has inspired the children to get involved in the games this summer whether that is watching on television or in person!

The weather has been kind to us again today for our intra-school cricket tournaments.

Children have really impressed us by putting their skills into practice.

We saw some fantastic 4’s and 6’s hit using lovely straight bats, just like we practiced yesterday!

Great work everyone!

Tomorrow is the last week of National School Sports Week and our focus will be on the Commonwealth Games.

WOW! We had a wonderful day on Thursday 27th May 2022, celebrating the Queens Platinum Jubilee.

One little boy in Year 4 told Mrs Unitt that it was his ‘best day ever!’ And yes it was pretty special; all made better by our whole school’s generosity!

We want to offer a massive thank you to all the parents/carers who made such an effort to dress their child up in their decade themed outfits or in red, white and blue and to support our party with so much food! We had plenty and plenty of seconds to go round…it really was very generous of you all.

The party was topped off with our, quickly becoming traditional, choc ice!

It was a day to remember in school and we hope any further celebrations are equally as memorable.

Today was our third day of sports week and we had a whole school cricket day.

The sun shone all day and it was perfect cricketing weather!

Most of the children were lucky enough to have a cricket session with Liam from Worcestershire Cricket where they worked on having a straight bat when hitting the ball.

Year 2 had a fun filled cricket afternoon with Miss Salter and Mr C working on their batting too!

Please look at more of our fabulous photos in our Gallery.

Well done all.

Tomorrow, we will be putting those skills into practice with our whole school intra-cricket day!

Good Luck all.

Events

Today was our whole school football day! The children have had a fantastic time and have all taken part in football tournaments against their peers.

This morning, Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 played in mixed teams against each other. We saw fantastic sportsmanship from all children as well as some fantastic tackling and goals scored!

This afternoon was the turn of Years 1 and 2. We were blown away by the children’s enthusiasm and football skills!

Remember – children are working towards an extra play on Friday. Children have the opportunity to earn tokens for actively travelling to school. If we reach 350 tokens we get the reward!

Come on Hartlebury, let’s get moving!
