Bewdley Festival – Saturday 13th April 2024

An exciting new children’s story festival is happening in Bewdley, Worcestershire on Saturday 13th April 2024.

‘Step into Stories’ with Bewdley Festival, is a one-day event which aims to bring a host of fantastic authors, poets and storytellers to venues in our town, to celebrate all that is amazing about the world of children’s stories. We have a wonderful line-up of award-winning authors, including MG Leonard who is taking over a special story telling carriage on one of the Severn Valley Railway steam trains from Kidderminster to Bewdley! See www.stepintostories.org.uk for our full line up for the day.

As you may already know, Bewdley Festival is a non-profit making, registered charity, which organises arts and cultural events each year which benefit our local community.

Mindful of the cost of living challenges facing so many families, we are really grateful for the support from our sponsors Edshed and The Elmley Foundation, which has enabled us to keep our ticket prices low and offer some of the author events for free. The library events with KS1 poet Attie Lime and picture book author Giles Trigg and the Rhyme Time session are free to attend, as well as the story telling sessions at Bewdley Museum (all we ask is that anyone wanting to attend those sessions book their places online so that we can keep an eye on numbers).

What else is happening on April 13th?

  • There will also be a free story trail with the first 100 children to complete it getting a goodie bag.
  • We would love to see everyone leave the festival with a book that is new to them, so we are organising The Big Bewdley Book Swap. Children can bring a good quality book to St George’s Hall anytime from the 25th of March to the day of the festival at 11:30am and receive a book swap token. These can then be exchanged at our Bewdley Book Swap Shop on April 13th between 2pm – 4pm.

We are very excited about our new festival and we hope you are too!

Thank you in advance for helping to support us in our first year of what we hope will become an annual highlight on the calendar and grow to be a festival that can also support local schools.
