Year 6 Educational Geography Visit
On Monday 7th October 2024, Year 6 went to Stourport-on-Severn to take part in a geography fieldwork day as part of their Rivers unit in Enquiry and Research this term.
Children started the day with a water safety activity locating dangers that children may come across when near the rivers and canals.
Children demonstrated excellent understanding of water and river safety throughout. Next, children took part in an activity labelling key features of a river by labelling the River Severn that they created out of rope.
We then conducted a river walk, identifying the key features of the river as we walked. Children were able to see the confluence between the River Stour and Severn.
In the afternoon, children took part in a sketching activity where they drew and labelled the man-made features along the river.
Children had important discussions around river pollution and erosion as part of this session.
Finally, children had the opportunity to test water samples from the canal and river to identify their levels of acidity.
Well done Year 6!
